Florida has seen a flurry of roster moves in recent days between the upcoming recruiting class, and the transfer portal. The Gators can add one more name to the transfer portal.
Mohamoud Diabate, a junior linebacker out of Auburn, Alabama, who started 10 games this season, is reportedly looking for a new program, according to On3 Sports and 247Sports. Diabate is the sixth player to enter the portal since the 2021 regular season ended. He started 17 games over the last 3 seasons, so schools will now be allowed to contact him about a potential transfer.
As a junior in 2021, Diabate led the team with 89 tackles. He also contributed 2.5 tackles for a loss and added 4 quarterback hurries.
The 6-foot-3, 227-pound prospect made a splash as a freshman when he made 3 sacks and a forced fumble in a win over Vanderbilt. He began his career as a pass rusher, but then transitioned to linebacker.

Always grateful to an athlete that chooses to play his college career at the school I have cheered for so long.
Best of luck at the new school of choice. I hope they find the best way to use your skills, because Florida did not.
He looked pretty good to me. Don’t know if we are in the market for a LB, but he will be a good get.
UF wanted him to “pack on muscle, which he did to the best of his ability in the off season”. But he seemed to slim down as soon as he started playing to his natural playing weight.
He was a little light in the loafers for what UF asked him to do. Our players that we rolled out as linebackers suffered from the inability to get off blocks for at least 2 years.
It’s not his fault they didnt know how to best use his skill set.
Losing Ventrell Miller hurt. Not developing Hopper and Wingi faster is on the staff. But there’s a reason those 2 started seeing the field more late in the season after Grantham was fired. The coaches still on staff knew what we had been rolling out there were not SEC linebackers.
Mullen always said they wanted their best 11 players on the field but gaps in recruiting specific positions had the best 11 sometimes playing out of their natural position.
I’m seeing that he’s not 100% sure what he’s doing yet. He may withdraw his name and come back. If nothing else we need some depth, so hope he stays.
I can see how if a new coach comes in and wants to start from scratch in evaluating the roster and potential recruits, that an incumbent starter might see that as disrespect.
All these exits are concerning, but until we hear otherwise, I’ll stay optimistic and assume Napier is handling things as professionally and effectively as possible.
It could be worse, you could lose 20+ to the portal like we did and play a season with 70 scholarship players.
Napier to UT….hold my beer.
At this rate we’ll be lucky to have a roster of 70 warm bodies, scholly or not.
Always seeing the positive side of things. Lol. Even after you got your wish for Mullen to be fired.
Diabate gave everything he had. He stepped up to the plate and played inside when he clearly was an outside/pass rusher body type.
Good luck to him and whoever gets him has a quality player and person.
Yep. Got nothing but good things to say about him. Wish him all the best.
I agree, best of luck to him in the future.
Good luck on your future journey and thanks for some great memories.
Coach Nappy is bringing the juice
Haven’t seen a bounce like this since the last dead cat drop!!!!
You missed it because you were to busy posting on UF articles but Alabama just scored on your iconic defense again. Lmao.
The last one out of the swamp needs to turn off the lights. Is UF going to have anyone left? Every day there are more transfer portal announcements and decommitments.
There have been a couple commits that have met with the new staff and have said they are excited to stay on, and worse comes to worse, there are quite a few players in the transfer portal that we could bring in if national signing day doesn’t go well in February, to replace the ones that are leaving or decommitting. It’s always sad to lose good players, but with the roller coaster the Gator fans have been on recently, I am choosing to be optimistic about the Gator program future.
From a rival’s standpoint, watching the mess at UF was funny for a while, but it isn’t even enjoyable anymore watching the dumpster fire burn down there. Hopefully Napier brought a fire truck when hired. UF has a lot of work to do to get back to where they belong. Good luck, you all are going to need it.
Expect Napier to clean house and build up the right way, by recruiting and bringing in a young foundation. I do not expect to see him sign 18 5th year seniors just to make a bowl next season. Napier is a program builder and that is what Florida needs.
From a rival’s standpoint we certainly don’t need you worrying about it. Particularly when your coach went and messed up as sure of a chance he is gonna get with that “world class,” defense. Death, taxes and the Dawgs blowing it. What you call a dumpster fire,
I call a hell of a view from sunny Florida, watching the Dawgs choke it up, year after year.
I think the dumpster fire is just starting to warm up. I enjoy a nice Gainesville blaze. Lol.
Cough cough…touchdown Bama…cough cough
@mrtwobits – if you ever wonder why most of us can’t stand UF- Just read your last post.
There are all kinds of fans for each team.
I understand enjoying your rivals’ difficulties, I confess I enjoyed watching the SEC championship game :), but I do know that Smart will figure it out sooner or later, he’s built a good foundation and I hope that Napier will as well.
Then why are you here? UGA fans seem to love our team. Just look at the UGA faithful crawling all over our comments section. Sad.
